Ines and Chanel in the 80's

Ines de la Fressange was the face of Chanel for most of the 80's. She was featured in countless ads, and she escorted Karl Lagerfeld down the runway for his finale bow in most shows that she walked in. My favorite images of Ines from this time are of the black and white outfits. While they are classic Chanel and reinforce the iconic signatures - chain link, quilting, camellias, black and white, cardigans - that have been relevant for so many decades, they are anything but boring.

p.s. Don't miss the 80's cellphone with the boyfriend carrying the antenna/battery pack!

  1. What a stunner Ines is. And she looks like a woman in these ads, not like a girl trying on her mother's clothes as so many ads of today.

  2. She was a fabulous muse. Personally, I think those were the best days for the house of Chanel under KL. I saw her one day while having lunch at Hotel Costes in Paris. Composed, unpretentious, very comfortable in her skin.

  5. My BF had that phone! Back in 1988...Ines was the quintessial Chanel model. It was much more than just throwing the clothes on some random young girl with no clue. http://couturekink.blogspot.com.au/

  6. OOH! Huge flashback, reminds me of my sophisticated Bavarian cousin who was my roommate in Paris - I still have the knockoff bracelet and cardi she gave me, those photos are wonderful. Sigh, I think I will go watch the Vogue Paris Wham! video...
